Master Decoy Carver Bruce Dixon led us through the process of painting ice fishing decoys. We had a full room of local families who spent the morning painting and enjoyed a meal together. Even Pastor Andrew joined in the fun and painted a decoy, as seen here. These decoys are fully functional for ice fishing, but they also are pieces of art you can leave dry in your house.
We were happy to host the Back to Hack kids games! The weather was extra cold and windy so we came inside and enjoyed some hot chocolate and a bunch of games. Ring toss, bowling, and golf all had their indoor versions rather than the snow versions we had planned. It was fun to see all the families that came and we handed out plenty of prizes.
Women from the area were able to gather together for a morning of fellowship and an encounter with the Wisdom of the Bible and Jesus Christ at Christmas. We had a wonderful time of sharing and care while we heard of the transformation the God makes in the lives of women, from the time of the Bible to today. Once again we were at maximum capacity this year.
Thank you to everyone who served, setup, and cleaned up to make this event possible.
Join us for a time of fellowship as the women gather to enjoy the evening together. Many of you enjoyed the decorations from the Christmas Tea two years ago and this craft event will teach you to make those for your own home. We love to provide these things free of charge but there will also be a free-will offering to help cover supplies.
Through the summer we have a number of fishing outings where men get together for dinner, devotions and some time on the lake. This summer we were happy to visit Birch lake, Webb lake, and Pine Mountain lake. This is a great opportunity to share the impact of the gospel in a personal way as we meet people in the midst of their passions and activities.
Join us through the winter for other fishing and sportsman related activities.
We were able to participate in the Sweetheart days events with a parade float and helping with the Dachshund Derby in the park after the parade. A collection of people came downtown to see the parade and support the town.
Each year the town puts on our local Sweetheart days event. On a Tuesday afternoon the people of Hackensack and the yearly tourists gather for a parade and time in the park, including the kids fishing contest in the morning and the dog races after the parade. The events include more than just Tuesday, with fireworks, fundraisers, and food all week long.
On TuesdayJune 25th, we served hotdogs at the fishing pier as part of the Hackensack Children's Fishing Contest. We are glad to be a part of this community event and seeing all the kids and their families gather together. Thanks to everyone who came out and helped.
Community events like this one give us the opportunity to show God's love for the area manifested in our love for the area. We are committed to seeing the Good News come to all people because we believe that everyone needs good news in their life.
Thursday, June 20th, at 5:30 the women of The Lighthouse and invited guests will be joining together for a birthday celebration for every birthday of the year. These are great times of fellowship and encouragement and if you are a woman of our church we encourage you to come and join us.
